Blue Hearts never start

Every body trained in pre-hospital care and use of an A.E.D (Automated External Defibrillator) Will know this Expression well

What it means in essence is

A heart starved of Oxygen( provided by C.P.R within the 4 minute time frame ) will not respond to defibrillation ( A condition known as

Refractory Ventricular Fibrillation)

This is why the chain of survival is so important,

Effective CPR must be carried out along with defibrillation, Otherwise defibrillation will be less effective.

Less Chance of Recovery

Better Chance of Recovery

Please be aware that defibrillation does not always guarantee to reverse VF, However a patient stands a better chance if they are receiving a good Oxygen supply
